lyrics

As the day winds down, and the hours roll up, I sit at a desk and shuffle paper

All thoughts of love are just thoughts that’s all, phones ring interrupting each other

And I search through people´s names

Voices come through numb from the other room, blurred somethings float in the air,

Not sharp like talk from an outdoor bar, and my mind is drunk over there

Well there was a time when the warm winds blew, and the night poured in glasses on the table

And you kissed my cheek under blossomed trees, and it made me feel lighter than the air

But now you’re not here, and I’m not over there, and the office pours paper on the table

Rain falls down splash like teacups outside, smashing open on Thomas Street Road

As I sit and wait for the working day to close its eyes and shrink away

I stand up to go, turn the PC off, take my coat and walk out of the building

Then I buy myself some more cigarettes as I walk down Meath Street in the rain

Watching the teacups as they fall from the sky down a road that’s as long as a cigarette

Where a cold wind blows on a long walk home, holding The Times over my head

So I cut along by Swift´s Alley, hold my head down Hangover Lane

Thinking “where am I?” under cloudy skies, and I miss the warm winds that blew

And I miss kissing with you
